Flying Blue program started 2026 with a Promo Reward that will definitely catch the attention of certain Canadian travellers.
Flying Blue is known for its monthly rotating Promo Rewards, which offer discounted award pricing on select routes across North America. These promos change every month and often unlock some of the best-value redemptions for long-haul travel, particularly in premium cabins.
For January 2026, Montreal is one of the featured departure cities. On the surface, the deal looks excellent. Certain flights from Montreal to Europe are available for just 45,000 Flying Blue miles plus taxes and fees, one way, for business class on Air France and KLM. For a transatlantic business class seat, that is a very strong redemption and well below what many other loyalty programs typically charge.
However, this month’s offer comes with an important caveat.

Flying Blue is the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, along with several SkyTeam partner airlines. Members earn miles when flying or through partners and can redeem those miles for flights, upgrades, and other travel-related perks.
Among Canadian travellers, Flying Blue has steadily grown in popularity thanks to its competitive pricing, solid award availability, and frequent Promo Rewards. In most cases, simply being a Flying Blue member is enough to access these monthly deals, and joining the program is completely free.

Unlike most Promo Rewards, the January 2026 Montreal deal is not available to all Flying Blue members. To book this specific promotion, you must be subscribed to Flying Blue Extra.
Flying Blue Extra is a paid annual membership designed for more frequent Air France and KLM flyers. It offers added perks such as earning bonus miles on paid flights, a set number of lounge passes each year, and some priority-style benefits. While it can provide value for the right traveller, it also means this month’s promo is more limited than usual.

This offer will appeal most to travellers who already fly Air France or KLM with some regularity, live in or around Montreal, and are already Flying Blue Extra members or plan on purchasing one of the annual memberships.
In general, if you plan to fly Air France and/or KLM frequently and want to earn and redeem Flying Blue miles on international long-haul flights, this could justify the cost of Flying Blue Extra.

For Canadians who collect American Express Membership Rewards points, Flying Blue remains an easy and flexible program to use. AMEX Membership Rewards points in Canada transfer to Flying Blue at a 1:1 rate, making it simple to move points over when a good redemption appears.
This flexibility is particularly helpful with Promo Rewards like this one, where availability can be limited and timing matters.

Flying Blue Promo Reward tickets are subject to availability and must be booked directly through Air France or KLM. Travel dates and routes are limited, so having some flexibility will increase your chances of finding space. As with most award tickets, taxes and surcharges are paid separately, and reward flights do not earn additional miles or elite credit.

At 45,000 miles one way, this January Promo Reward offers excellent value for business class travel to Europe. The requirement to be a Flying Blue Extra member is the main downside, but for frequent Air France and KLM flyers based in Montreal, this could still be a very worthwhile opportunity.
If this deal does not quite fit your travel plans, it may be worth waiting. February’s Flying Blue Promo Rewards are just around the corner, and the next standout offer might be a better match.
