Some interesting news out of Porter Airlines this week!
If you’ve been watching Porter over the past couple of years, you know the growth has been steady and intentional. 2026 continues that trend, with new U.S. destinations, expanded regional flying, and a few meaningful airport upgrades that are worth noting.
Here’s what’s new.

Starting May 21, 2026, Porter will operate five weekly flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Austin feels like a natural addition. It’s a strong mix of business and leisure demand, with tech, music, food, and major events driving year-round traffic. For Toronto travellers, it adds another solid U.S. city option that is not just New York, Boston, or somewhere in Florida.
The route will be flown by the Embraer E195-E2, so it includes Porter’s standard two-by-two seating layout and onboard WiFi.

One of the more notable updates is in Chicago.
As of September 1, Porter will shift its Chicago flights from Midway to O’Hare International Airport, operating three times daily from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
O’Hare is Chicago’s primary airport, so this opens up stronger connectivity and makes onward travel easier, especially with their codeshare partner American Airlines. It also aligns well with the new U.S. pre-clearance facility coming to Billy Bishop, which should simplify the experience for travellers departing downtown Toronto.
Porter has served Chicago since 2008, so this is more of an evolution than a new launch, but it is a meaningful one.

Another addition from Billy Bishop is daily service to Nashville International Airport starting May 11.
Nashville continues to grow as a leisure destination, and this gives downtown Toronto travellers direct access without having to head out to Pearson. It’s a simple, logical addition to the U.S. network.

Earlier this month, Porter launched nonstop winter seasonal service between Montréal–Trudeau International Airport and Lynden Pindling International Airport.
This is Porter’s first Caribbean route from Montreal, and it complements existing Nassau service from Toronto Pearson and Ottawa.
For Montreal travellers, it adds another nonstop warm-weather option without connecting through another Canadian hub. It also shows that Porter is gradually building Montreal into a more balanced base rather than focusing only on Ontario.

Beyond the U.S. and sun markets, Porter is also expanding domestically.
New summer routes include:
There is also new seasonal service between Ottawa and Deer Lake starting June 10.
What stands out here is how much attention Ottawa and Hamilton are getting. Porter is clearly investing in cities outside of the traditional Toronto and Montreal focus, which creates more nonstop options within Canada.

Several winter routes are being extended into summer, including service from Toronto Pearson to Cancun, Costa Rica, and Nassau, as well as Hamilton to Fort Lauderdale and Ottawa to Cancun.
Notably, Porter remains the only airline offering sun destinations from Ottawa this summer. That is a meaningful detail for travellers based in the capital who prefer to avoid positioning flights.

This is not one splashy announcement. It is a steady expansion across multiple parts of the network.
For Canadian travellers, it simply means more nonstop options and more competition in markets that historically have not always had it.
It will be interesting to see where Porter heads next!
